Energy Solutions has designed and administered several autonomous energy efficiency programs as a third-party implementor in California. Each program aims to capture specific energy efficiency market opportunities. We deliver solutions tailored to meet our clients' needs.

Program Example: Energy Technology Assistance Program (ETAP)

In February 2010, the CEC awarded SEP funding to three new municipal and commercial energy efficiency programs. The program proposal from the Energy Solutions team received the highest ranking out of 70 submitted proposals. Energy Solutions expects to begin implementing the Energy Technology Assistance Program (ETAP) in July 2010.

Energy Solutions will design, implement, and manage ETAP. ETAP’s goals include specifying and implementing advanced energy efficiency technologies in local government facilities state-wide and developing project case studies. The targeted technologies include wireless lighting controls, wireless HVAC controls, and occupancy-sensor controlled bi-level lighting in parking garages and parking lots. Twenty-one local government agencies participated in the ETAP proposal and limited funding is available to include additional local government agencies.

Workforce development is another focus of ETAP. The program will sponsor trainings for electricians, electrical contractors, and HVAC controls contractors to properly design and install these advanced technologies, as well as provide on-the-job energy auditing training.

Program Example: Cool and Light

The Big Box Retailer Cool and Light Program combines innovation, new technologies, the nation's largest retailers and formation of a unique retailer alternative cooling collaborative - to bring energy efficiency to big box stores. The program provides control improvements and economizer repairs for existing HVAC units, as well as state-of-the-art energy-efficient lighting design assistance and incentives, including daylighting, controls, and the latest generation lighting technologies. With the help of the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center's new Western Cooling Efficiency Center (WCEC), the Program also provides installation support and maintenance training.

Program Example: Senior Energy Services

We designed and implemented a PG&E-sponsored direct install program for senior centers, nursing homes, and senior citizen housing facilities in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. By providing turn-key comprehensive energy efficiency improvement services, the Program captured long-term electricity and natural gas savings. Energy Solutions designed the portfolio of measures, including boiler upgrades as well as lighting retrofits in common and tenant-metered areas. From start to finish, Energy Solutions oversaw the physical renovation process to achieve energy savings in local senior facilities.
